These terms apply when you use our website or purchase goods from us online. Please read them before placing an order.

  1. OUR PRODUCTS

We sell British-made sofas, chairs, beds, mattresses, furniture and related products. Our range includes stock items, standard-range furniture, made-to-order furniture and bespoke or made-to-measure pieces.

We take reasonable care to describe and display products accurately. Colours, textures and finishes can appear differently on different screens and in different lighting. We encourage customers to request fabric samples or visit our Ilkeston showroom when colour, texture or comfort is important.

Product measurements are approximate unless we confirm that an item is being made to an agreed bespoke specification.

  1. ORDERS

Placing an order is an offer to buy the selected goods. An order becomes binding when we confirm acceptance in writing and receive the required payment or deposit.

Please check all sizes, fabrics, colours, finishes, delivery details and access requirements before confirming an order. Contact us immediately if anything is incorrect.

We may decline or cancel an order if a product is unavailable, the price or description contains a clear error, delivery cannot reasonably be arranged, or we suspect fraud or unauthorised payment. If we cancel an order after taking payment, we will refund the amount paid.

  1. PRICES AND PAYMENT

Consumer prices shown on our website include VAT where applicable. Delivery charges are shown at checkout or confirmed separately when a postcode requires a manual quotation.

Depending on the product, we may require full payment or a deposit when the order is placed, with the remaining balance payable before or on delivery. The applicable payment arrangements will be shown at checkout or confirmed in writing before the order is accepted.

We will not begin making bespoke or made-to-order furniture until the required deposit or payment has been received and the specification has been agreed.

  1. MADE-TO-ORDER AND BESPOKE GOODS

Made-to-order furniture is produced in the size, fabric, colour or finish selected by the customer. Bespoke and made-to-measure goods are made to an individually agreed specification.

Please check the specification carefully before approving it. Changes may not be possible after materials have been ordered, cut or production has started.

If you ask to change or cancel an order before production begins, contact us as soon as possible. We will tell you whether the change is possible and whether any reasonable costs have already been incurred.

  1. DELIVERY

We deliver throughout England and Wales and to parts of Scotland. Availability and cost depend on the delivery postcode and the items ordered.

Delivery charges are calculated at checkout where possible. Some postcode areas require a quotation before an order can be completed. Further information is available at:

Most furniture is made to order. Any lead time or delivery date is an estimate unless we expressly agree a fixed date in writing. We will keep you informed of material delays and arrange the delivery day with you when the goods are ready.

You must provide complete and accurate delivery details. Someone aged 18 or over must be present to accept the delivery unless we have agreed otherwise.

  1. ACCESS AND MEASUREMENTS

Before ordering, you are responsible for checking that the product will fit through doors, hallways, stairways, lifts and other access points and will fit in the intended room.

Please tell us before ordering about narrow roads, restricted parking, upper floors, steps, stair turns, limited access or any other delivery difficulty.

If delivery cannot be completed because the information supplied was incomplete or the product does not fit, we will discuss the available options with you. Reasonable redelivery, collection, alteration or return costs may apply where legally permitted, and we will explain those costs before proceeding.

  1. DELIVERY SERVICE

Where our own delivery team is used, we will place the furniture in the agreed room, unwrap it and remove the packaging unless otherwise agreed.

Responsibility for the goods passes to you when they are delivered into your physical possession or the possession of a person you nominate. This does not affect your rights if goods arrive faulty, damaged or not as described.

Please inspect the goods as soon as reasonably possible and report any damage, fault or incorrect item promptly.

  1. CANCELLATIONS, RETURNS AND REFUNDS

Cancellation and return rights depend on what was purchased, whether it was ordered online or in our showroom, and whether it was made to your specification.

Nothing in these terms or our Returns and Cancellations Policy affects your statutory rights.

  1. FAULTY OR DAMAGED GOODS

Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If an item is faulty, damaged or incorrect, contact us promptly with your order details and photographs where possible.

Depending on the circumstances and your legal rights, we will arrange an appropriate repair, replacement, collection, price reduction or refund.

Your statutory rights are separate from and are not reduced by any manufacturer’s guarantee.

  1. GUARANTEES

Furniture may include a manufacturer’s guarantee covering specified components or workmanship. The duration and scope depend on the product and manufacturer and will be stated in the relevant product information or order paperwork.

Guarantees do not exclude or limit your statutory rights.

  1. WEBSITE AVAILABILITY AND INFORMATION

We aim to keep the website available and accurate, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may correct errors, update information, change prices or remove products when necessary.

Changes will not affect an order that we have already accepted unless we agree the change with you or the change is required by law.

  1. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The website’s text, photographs, branding, graphics and design belong to Richdale Sofas or are used with permission. They may not be reproduced or used commercially without prior written permission.

You may view and print website information for your personal, non-commercial use.

  1. PRIVACY

Shopify and other service providers may process information to operate the website, accept payments, manage orders and provide related services.

  1. LIABILITY

We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and your statutory consumer rights.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed or for business losses arising from a consumer purchase.

  1. EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL

We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control. If such an event materially affects your order, we will contact you and take reasonable steps to reduce the delay.

Your legal rights regarding delayed delivery or cancellation remain unaffected.

  1. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these terms when our products, services or legal requirements change. The terms applying to an order will normally be those published when the order was placed.

  1. GOVERNING LAW

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the part of the United Kingdom where you live. You may bring legal proceedings in the courts that have jurisdiction where you live.
